Washington, DC— Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) voted in favor of the FY24 Energy and Water Development Related Agencies Appropriations bill, which passed out of the House Appropriations Committee tonight.

Congressman Womack said, “Maintaining and investing in our waterways and energy supply will boost economic competitiveness and keep our communities functioning efficiently and safely. I’m glad the Energy and Water bill provides the funding to do just that. My goal as an appropriator is to ensure taxpayer dollars are used effectively, with the impacts felt right back at home in Arkansas’ Third.”

The Energy and Water bill prioritizes funding for agencies and programs that bolsters our national security, energy security, and economic competitiveness. It includes vital funding for the MKARNS system, which allows for the safest, most economical, and fuel-efficient way to move our nation's goods for use domestically and for export. Additionally, it funds the White River Basin Study to provide a comprehensive water resource management strategy which seeks sustainable water resource management while taking into consideration flood risk management, environmental protection, water supply, hydropower generation, agricultural practices, and social well-being.

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He is a member of the House Appropriations Committee.
